~Why Krishna formed the Varnas~

Krishna formed the varnas - total of four,
One, two, three, four.
Brahmana, Shatriya, Vaishya, Shudra
Society in his form – a "Being" untold.
(Clap hands four times.)

(SB 3.6.30)
From head came Bharmana,
Mode of goodness this varna adored.
Since head is supreme part of the body,
Supreme they called
as spiritual masters and priests evolved.
(Shake head loosely)

(SB 3.6.31)
From arms came Shatriyas,
Mode of passion this varna adored.
Since arms take on to defend the body,
So they took to defend standing bold.
(Shake hands loosely in front of body.)

(SB 3.6.32)
From waist came Vaishyas,
Mixed modes of Passion and Ignorance adored.
Since abdomen provides nourishment,
Farmers and merchants as vaishyas evolved.
(Shake and twist your waist)

(SB 3.6.33)
From legs came Shudras,
Mode of ignorance this varna adored.
Since they take the body places and serve,
they served all classes and society unfold.
(Shake legs loosely in front of body.)

(SB 3.6.34)
Yet see how Krishna
so merciful,
Opens his home where
no distinction holds,
If they serve him
with all their hearts,
seek to bring him pleasure,
he reciprocates ten folds!
(Bring out all fingers and shake in front for 10 folds indication.)

Yet less they all know,
Work together to grow,
Krishna ’s pleasure all seek to bestow,
Society as one, need to show.
(Join hands and walk in a circle.)

Kalyuga came
as lost were all,
Age of quarrel,
hypocrisy and downfall,
Then came as Lord Chaitanya –
hear our call,
Spread Sankirtan [to] bring
deliverance of all!
(Jump high with deliverance of all)

[In Kaliyuga] Shudras all born,
Shudras all remain,
Sankirtan movement
delivers from this chain,
Satisfaction of supreme -
He taught us again.
So come drown in flood;
as we pour Harinam Sankirtan rain!
So come drown in flood;
and savor Harinam Sankirtan again!

(Move hands up and down as if it’s raining
and shake heads backward and sideways
as showing how wonderful it feels as this
ecstatic sweet sankirtan rain pours and drowns us)
